60 years of Sailing Club at UCI
UCI Sailing is dedicated to fostering a community of passionate sailors, ranging from beginners to competitive racers. Our mission is to promote nautical excellence and sportsmanship through teamwork and a shared love for the water.
Established as a cornerstone of UCI's club sports, the Sailing Club has a long-standing history of navigating the coastal waters of Southern California. From humble beginnings to representing the university in collegiate regattas, our journey is defined by the waves we've conquered and the friendships we've built along the coast.
This year marks 60 years of Sailing at UCI! These past 60 years have been full of competitions all over the Pacific Coast Conference, traveling as far as states like Hawaii and Washington, solidifying the team's impact across the country. We look forward to making many more memories!

Keane Hana '27
Hey! I’m Keane, I’m a senior studying History and serving as President of UCI Sailing. I’ve been fortunate to spend my college years surrounded by an awesome group of sailors, competing at regattas throughout the West Coast, and spending way too many hours on and off the water with my teammates. Some of my favorite memories come from traveling to regattas and watching our team grow both competitively and as a community. Over the years, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to take on leadership roles within the team and help shape where our team is headed. I’m really excited to serve as President this year and look forward to building on everything we’ve accomplished, getting more people out on the water, and making this a great year for the team!

Matthew Stank '27
Hallo Everyone! I'm Matthew, a fourth year Mechanical and Aerospace Major. While I just turned 21, I have only been sailing for 3 years. I joined my freshman year at UCI, with no previous experience, the team has taught me everything I know! As my second year being the team's VP, I hope to pass along everything I learned while keeping the good vibes rolling. While not out on the water you can catch me wheeling around campus jumping from classes to my Battle Bots test Lab. If you ever have a question just stop me and ask. I hope to see you all out on the water!

Spencer Eldridge '28
Hey, I’m Spencer. I am a third-year materials science and engineering (MSE) major from Virginia. I joined the sailing team freshman year; it was actually one of the deciding factors in going to UCI! I learned to sail through a summer camp at the Washington Sailing Marina, so I had a couple years of sailing experience before joining the UCI Sailing Club. Unlike the recreational sailing I did before, the sailing club has led to opportunities I never would have expected. Getting to travel with the team to regattas hosted by other schools has been some of my best college experiences, and I have been able to grow my professional skills working as the club’s treasurer! I am excited to continue supporting the team and hope to see the team grow!

Heyo! I'm Kai Brennan. I am a second year here at UCI and I am studying MSE. I grew up in Hermosa Beach and started sailing in High school and I LOVE it. In addition to the UCI sailing team I sail on a match racing team at Balboa Yacht Club and some other keel boats year round. I love the community I've found at the UCI sailing team and I hope you join us!! Other than sailing I am involved in the nuclear facility here at UCI. I love the environment and I am hoping learning about nuclear can set me up for a job that helps that. I am also on the board of survivor club! Survivor club scratches the filmmaking itch in my mind and is abolute strategical MAGIC. I am also an actor and waiting for my big break... Ask me any questions about anything! See ya on the water!Â

Rick Kramer '27
Hello I’m Rick Kramer, a senior studying Biology and Computer Science. I grew up sailing recreationally on Lake Mission Viejo and in Newport Beach, and loved it so much I taught sailing classes out of Catalina Island during weekends and summer in high school. I just got involved in racing here at UCI and have been having an absolute blast with the team. I especially like the atmosphere and effort the team puts into teaching and pushing the newer sailors to excel and I have never been part of a more fun and yet still productive and competitive group of sailors in my whole life. I am super excited to keep that streak up into my next year as a captain and help make the team run as smooth as can be!

Lily Trevisani '29
Hi! I'm Lily, I'm a second year Biological Sciences Major, with a minor in Management. I have been sailing for 12 years all over the world, but I have to say UCI Sailing is my favorite. I grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii, but I went to high school in the south of Spain. I have experience sailing on CFJ's, 420s, ILCA and keel boats, so feel free to ask me anything! I run the Instagram, so just shoot me a DM! Other than sailing, I'm on PR for Biosciences Student council, and in Red Cross Club at UCI, and I'm always down for a side quest. Fun fact, I speak three languages! For the team, I run the social media and website, and manage recruitment! I'm excited to help grow the team and make many more lasting memories this year!
